Security and ethics

Personally security is a fight that is hard to keep up with. It seems like there is a crack developed everytime there is security designed. I feel that if we can make open source the standard and we would have far less issues with security. You wouldn't have companies trying to make examples of individuals because their software/data leaked before launch. Back before the popularization of the internet it was hard to find illegal copies of operating systems and end user programs. I believe it might have been because there wasn't another option to choose. But sinece then Software continued to cost more and more while providing less and less updated options. Since P2P clients have become far more easier to download whatever an individual is looking for there became a question of ethics. These ethics I feel are no longer ethics in truth, but just the larger companies trying to maintain profit margins. If we are truely trying to improve the ethics of our country we would not support continue to support companies that would rather get rid of employees then let their stock holder not have record profit year.

Week 7 Mini Projet -FedScope

On week 7 I found myself on the fedscope website. The website allowed me to make statistics and have them easily formatted to be placed as graphs for presentations. I bet several entities use this website to pull statistics and do it quickly for presentions that are last minute. I found the interface rather simple but trying to get an exact idea on some of the stats because troublesome. The % of subtotal proved to be one of the options I wish I could fully understand because it was giving me off numbers . The percentages didn't add up to the sub total and sometimes were greater than %100. That confused me and made me steer clear of some search result.

Google Article

While online today I found an article on CNN that I have found quite interesting. Right now there have been talks that google has been taking advangtage of its large share of the web searching industry much like the microsoft/ie lawsuits that went on for most of the 90s. I have found that the government has not been treating every company equally. One thing I wished the writer mentioned in his article is that the G1 cellphone that google makes pushed its ideas the sameway that microsoft had. Google and Mac have both been just as bad but in different ways like microsoft. Mac during the time that Microsoft was getting sued only allowed there OS on their hardware so if you bought one you had to have the other. These issues is showing how much technology is ahead of law.
